Diversity Makes Us Stronger
According to the Census Bureau, Houston's diversity is the strongest in the country:
- Hispanic: 44.3%
- White/Anglo: 25.1%
- African American: 22.8%
- Asian: 6.7%
- 1 in 4 Houstonian's is foreign born
So not only does our diversity make us stronger, it presents amazing possibilities and opportunities. Our small business community will provide more diversity of services and global outreach, expanding our already vibrant economic footprint. And in the one aspect of human interaction that brings us all closer together - food - Houston is benefiting greatly from the 10,000 diverse restaurants we have to choose from, to learn more about the different cultures around us.
And let's not forget, our diversity provides opportunities and needs for a strong nonprofit and community service sector. A vibrant sector that provides education, arts, and positive community engagement.
